Judgment...No Big Deal?
To me, passing judgment is the "root of all evil." That single word is the hub of the ego-wheel. Judgment and "observing" or "witnessing" are not the same thing. The judging aspect of mind is rooted in guilt. Judgement, as I'm using the word, is when the ego finds someone or something to be guilty, of something. Even the judgment of good insinuates its opposite—bad. To rise above judgement, to reach a state of zero-judgment, is an obvious spiritual goal.
Judgment follows the principle of projection. When I find someone or something to be guilty, I'm actually seeing my own perceived guilt projected outward. The mind takes its own guilty self-judgment and throws it over another person, covering them with its blanket of guilt. I don't know who first said this, but when I point my finger at you, my other fingers point at me. Nuff said.
